Villa end the season held at Hyde Road to make it a 9th placed finish having recorded eighteen wins, six draws and eighteen defeats in their forty two division one games. Although 9th place was well below the levels Villa had become accustomed to prior to WWI the disastrous start made by the team on the resumption of league football made such a finish scarcely likely. One win in ten and eight defeats however was followed by as fine a run of results seen for many a year before form wavered once again but Villa retained sufficient form to win a record sixth FA Cup as twenty one new players were bedded in over the season.
