Ronnie Dix hits a hat-trick to help Villa to their third win in nine under Jimmy Hogan and only their fourth in sixteen second tier games.

Villa win for the second time in three games under Jimmy Hogan and the third time in total to make it four wins in the last sixteen second tier games and eight wins, eight draws and six defeats in twenty two division two matches. 

Jimmy McMullan had recorded five wins, five draws and three defeats in his thirteen division two matches in charge and his successor Jimmy Hogan had now delivered three wins, three draws and three defeats in his nine game spell.
