Villa recover from a first League defeat in five but are held at home by Doncaster to leave them with just five wins in their last twenty one second tier games and an overall record of nine wins, eleven draws and seven defeats in twenty seven division two matches. 

Jimmy McMullan had recorded five wins, five draws and three defeats in his thirteen division two matches in charge and his successor Jimmy Hogan had now delivered four wins, six draws and four defeats in his fourteen game spell.
