Devey scored the fourth goal. The visits of the visitors into the home territory were never of long duration, while if Burnley secured a comer it invariably proved fruitless. Once Bowes had exceedingly hard lines, and was not until 15 minutes from the finish that Provan was able to break through the Villa defence and score with beauty.
