In an injury strewn and at times overly tentative performance, Villa miss the opportunity to rack up the goals. They still climb to 7th in the table however nicely poised ahead of the run in with the Cup 6th round still to come.
Joe Mercer’s Villa extend their unbeaten run to six including five in League to make it twelve wins, seven draws and eleven defeats in thirty Division One games this season.
Meanwhile, forward Alfie Hale made his final Villa appearance aged 22 before moving on to Doncaster Rovers in July 1962. Hale played for Villa in 1960-61 and 1961-62 making seven appearances and scoring twice.
