ON THIS DAY
Saturday, 19 September 1964
Villa secure a second consecutive victory and keep their first clean sheet of the season, under Dick Taylor and across 9 games. Villa climb to 20th in the table, just outside the relegation spots.
Dick Taylor's Villa begin to show the wildly inconsistent form that would characterise his reign as having won none and lost five of their first seven games under his leadership they make it successive wins for the first time since September 1963. As a result, Villa now have six wins in the last thirty five matches after a torrid final twelve months under Mercer and a difficult start to life under Taylor.
Meanwhile, midfielder Bobby Park made his Villa debut after joining from school football in June 1961.
