ON THIS DAY
Wednesday, 1 September 1965
Villa fail to score and lose for the third time in four games to leave them bottom of the table on goal average having earned a single point. But at least Villa weren't Leeds - their disgraceful approach to the game may have won them matches as the laws and governance of the game trailed behind - but they won no admirers. A pitiful, but sadly succesful approach that depressed all those witnessing their unabashed thuggery.
Dick Taylor's Villa fail to score for the third time in four games and remain without a win as they make it a draw and three defeats in four League games this season.

🆘 Pathetically weak refereeing but to be fair most officials were struggling to deal with the vile approach to the game that Leeds were bringing to football. That was no excuse though.
