Villa face extreme aggression as a tactic for the second successive game but Ken McNaught’s 🏴 first ⚽ goals for the club on his 🕒 fourteenth appearance win through as Villa survive losing goalkeeper Jimmy Rimmer 🏴 to a stomach upset after just 19’.
Villa face Górnik Zabrze 🇵🇱 for the first time in competitive football, Górnik become the 113th team that the Villa first team has played in League or Cup football, Villa’s third continental European opponents and their first from Poland 🇵🇱.
Goalkeeper Jake Findlay 🏴 23 replaces the unwell Rimmer 🏴 after 19' in what would prove to be his final appearance in a Villa shirt before he moved on to Luton Town in November 1978 for a fee of £100,000. Findlay had played for Villa between 1973-74 and 1977-78 making 17 appearances.
Rght back Gary Williams 🏴 16 made his first appearance in the Villa.
