"At the moment, we have a situation where we don't know how to play when we arc 2-0 up. “When you go two-up, whether It is deserved or not, you should go on and win the game. “But over the 90 minutes I have no complaints about the result.” Graham Taylor.

Alan McInally boosted his tally to six in four matches as Aston Villa maintained their unbeaten start to the season, at West Ham. But West Ham will take greater satisfaction from the outcome after staging a courageous second-half comeback. After dominating the first half-hour, they were hit by two counter-punches by former Celtic striker Mclnally. In the 31st minute, the forward dubbed "Rambo" by the Glasgow fans poked the ball home from close range with the West Ham defence in confusion, and then four minutes later he turned in David Platt's low cross. West Ham manager John Lyall introduced Alan Devonshire after 54 minutes to increase his team's attacking options, and eight minutes later the former England midfielder sparked West Ham's revival. With the goalkeeper Nigel Spink drawn from his goalline, Devonshire's 25-yard chip came back off the woodwork but bounced into the net off Villa's former Arsenal defender Martin Keown. Four minutes later Villa captain Allan Evans tried to find Spink with a back pass but knocked the ball past his goalkeeper for David Kelly to equalise.
