TEENAGE striker lan Olney celebrated his first appearance of the season by grabbing both goals against Tottenham as Aston Villa finally got on the victory trail. Olney (19) put Villa ahead in the ninth minute when he evaded the challenge of Guy Butters and converted a Nigel Callaghan cross. Seventeen minutes later Adrian Heath's volley was deflected by Tottenham defender Gary Mabbutt into the path of Olney who netted the rebound after goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt had blocked his first effort. It was no more than Villa deserved as they threatened to overrun a wobbly Spurs defence in the first half with a Chris Price effort striking the inside of a post. Tottenham came more into the game in the second half, with Paul Walsh prominent. But they were given little room by a defence in which Paul McGrath, who dropped back from midfield to replace Danish international Kent Nielsen, was outstanding. Spurs gave a debut to defender Pat Van Den Hauwe, a £575,000 signing from Everton, but all he had to show for his efforts was a second half booking.
