A penalty won amid much rancour by Savo Milošević and dispatched with a wonderful sangfroid by Dwight Yorke carried Aston Villa into the fifth round of the FA Cup yesterday at Bramall Lane. A poor match contain little of note until the hour when controversy took hold and any snow remaining on the pitch would've melted amid the heat generated Milošević beautifully released by Tommy Johnson charged into the box sweeping the ball clear of Chris Short. Although the United format definitely fouled Milošević, the tall Serbian continue goalwards despite being off-balance. Alan Kelly, United’s Irish goalkeeper rushed out and dived at Milošević’s feet instant resulting in Villas striker falling dramatically in the frosty Sheffield soil. Milošević who completed the match to chants of cheat insisted afterwards that Kelly caught his foot but replays indicated any contact with slight or accidental. Kelly immediately signalled his displeasure mimicking a dive, an unhelpful gesture the wound up the home fans further. Fortunately nothing more sinister than snowballs emerge from the irate Kop The referee Alan Wilkie stated that he awarded a penalty for Kelly's intervention which appears a strange decision indeed. The real offence was committed by Short who even admitted partial culpability. “Alan never touched him he said Milošević went into the area, I tried to get across and if there was a foul it was mine. He stumbled when he could've gone down but kept going then Alan came out and he just went over him. The ball had already long gone over the line for a goalkick. Insult was soon added to perceived in equity when Kelly was booked by Wilkie and then beaten by Yorke’s cheeky penalty. Yorke and his colleagues now travel to Ipswich or Walsall the eighth consecutive time they've been drawn away in the FA Cup.
