MATCH QUOTES

"It's not a bad result, playing at home here, but it's not the best. How we played, I think the draw is fair for both teams. Maybe in the second half we controlled more than them, but also they hit the crossbar. "We missed some energy, but I am happy because the draw was not the worst result, and in the second half we corrected some things to control the match. "Maybe it's because we have some players injured. Bailey is getting better but he's not completely fit. Some other players are also getting better. This is the idea we have. "It is not the best result but it's not the worst. I think a draw is fair. We played the second half much better than the first and at the end we were close to winning the match. We had two chances at the end of the game, we tried to score but couldn't. I think a draw is fair. “We could be better in the table but we are more or less in the top six but I am happy with what we are doing. "Maybe today we needed some refreshed players. And we have some players injured. But the players we have they respond really well. We will need the players helping. We prepared this match trying to win, we didn't do it but we have to be overall happy with this month, how we are in the table and what we are trying to build. "I think the result for both teams is fair. Maybe the first half they controlled the match better. We didn’t concede many chances, but they controlled it better than we did. "The second half we corrected things and pushed in different ways how we could play better in the second half. They hit the crossbar, but we were better in positioning and we created a few chances to score. "The most important chance we created to score was the last one with Jaden. It was a tight match, but we have to accept it and the draw is fair for both teams. We are in the top five and in Europe we are challenging very well in the first two matches we played. It is a positive the way we are doing. I am satisfied but also demanding for the next month. "I think it is [a] hamstring [injury for Ezri Konsa], but I don’t know if it’s a big or small injury. Hopefully it is a small injury. We have to rest now and recover some players like Ramsey, Onana and McGinn. They are coming back for the next two weeks starting with us and being available to include in the squad Kamara and Tyrone Mings. Buendia is getting fitter and better. We will need them. "We are not having a lot of important injuries, just small injuries. It is normal and some players have hamstring or small injuries. But for me it is not really relevant. The idea is to try and reduce the risk and have players to play instead of them. "At the moment we are doing that and some players are coming back after long injuries. Players with small injuries, they should be available again like Onana and Ramsey. "We can have some days off [in the international break] we can recover our energy and try to push in the next month. "We are being demanding and competing very well. We are happy in the Champions League, and happy of course in the Carabao Cup. We're going to play seven matches in the next month. We have to stay competitive like we are now and being demanding. "Of course to play in the Champions League this week. We tried to play with the same energy and tried to impose ourselves, but we are against Manchester United. The expectation I had of the match is what more or less happened. "We deserved more from the second half. But I think the result is fair. "The international break will be good for rest." "Playing in Europe and then playing against Manchester United, there is a tough demand on us. How we played against them last year, losing to them at home, we planned to forget the match on Wednesday and play with all our energy today. "Today, maybe some players needed to be refreshed, but we don’t have those players because they are injured like Ramsey and McGinn. We are taking lots of information from Philogene and Barkley, they played fantastic. It is important they get minutes on the field. "We will need players to be ready to play. The information we have now is very important for us. “[Clean Sheets are] important as well because of the teams we played, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. It is also important to keep the balance and increase our level. We are playing more or less being consistent and competitive against the teams we played. "This is the challenge we have and we need to be consistent with the objective we are adding. They are more demanding than last year. "We are in the process of building a team. Ross Barkley played 90 minutes for us. We are managing things better. I am happy. "Jaden is really playing in the idea we have defensively and offensively, being competitive and challenging himself with the capacity he has to increase our level. He is doing that. I am very happy. "He can play on the left and right. Today we had two players out. Leon Bailey is progressively getting better, but he is not fit completely 100 per cent. He is having some injuries, not getting comfortable to play 90 minutes or feeling fit. Today after 60 minutes, he replaced him with Jaden on the right side." "I didn’t watch this action [Marcus Rashford’s potential sending off]. I always respect the referees." Unai Emery post-match. "If he [Marcus Rashford] gets sent off I don’t think he can argue too much [Rashford scythes Bailey down as he breaks on the wing with space and team-mates available]. "I think he get’s a little bit lucky because the ball is running out. If you look you clearly see he dangles out a leg, is it a yellow card? Quite possibly. "But [Diogo] Dalot comes and sweeps the ball up so the argument is that he’s not breaking a promising attack. "If he’s not going to send him off I do like what he did, he’s teed him up, the referee’s called him over, called Bruno Fernandes over and said ‘the next one he goes’. I think that’s good policy, so if he decides it’s not enough to send him off he’s made it clear the next one he’s going.” Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher engages in typical double-speak “should have been sent off but fine that he wasn’t.”
