On This Day
Villa hand a debut to Tyrone Mings as Dean Smith's revolution continues but they are held at the Madjeski. Having been in post for three months Dean Smith embarked on a clear out of the Villa squad he inherited, organising fresh loan spells for 6 players as well as bringing in and immediately loaning back French right back Frédéric Guilbert.
Centre back Mings Tyrone makes his Villa debut aged 26 after joining on loan from AFC Bournemouth until the end of the season. Mings becomes the 928th player to play for Villa in first team League or Cup football.
Midfielder Tom Carroll makes his Villa debut aged 25 as a 74’ substitute after joining on loan from Swansea City until the end of the season. Carrol becomes the 927th player to play for Villa in first team League or Cup football.
Another of Dean Smith’s signings Lovre Kalinić keeps his first clean sheet in his fifth game for the club having conceded 9 in the previous 4 to make it W1 D2 L2, 9 Goals Conceded, 1 Clean Sheet and 1 Booking so far in his Villa career.
Future Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez lined up for Reading whilst Tommy Elphick lined up for Villa against the club to whom he had been exiled by former boss Steve Bruce.

On This Day
Villa draw for a third successive game but remain unbeaten in five Championship matches.
Villa had now drawn the last 3 Championship fixtures vs. Brentford, Reading and Ipswich and had only managed to beat Hull City and Wigan Athletic.
At the season end of those opponents Brentford would hold the highest league position of 11th, with the remaining sides finishing 20th, 24th and relegated, 13th and 18th.
The disenchantment with Steve Bruce’s approach and results was growing as was the Villa boss’s intolerance of criticism.
Winger Anwar El Ghazi made his Villa debut aged 23 after joining on a season long loan from LOSC Lille creating an assist for Ahmed Elmohamady’s second goal of the season on 51’. El Ghazi becomes the 922nd player to play for Villa in first team League or Cup football.
Jonathan Kodjia makes his 50th start in a Villa shirt (60 Appearances) to make it W26 D18 L16, 23 Goals, 5 Assists, 9 Bookings and 1 Red Card so far in his Villa career.
Axel Tuanzebe makes his 10th apperance for Villa (9 Starts) to make it W4 D5 L1 so far in his Villa career.
Ahmed Elmohamady scores his second goal in a Villa shirt on his 50th appearance (43 Starts) to make it W26 D14 L10, 6 Assists and 2 Bookings so far in his Villa career.

Shaun Maloney, 24, makes his debut in a Villa shirt after joining from Celtic for £1,350,000 in January 2007 to become the 799th player to play for Villa in first team League or Cup football.
Stiliyan Petrov makes his 25th appearance in a Villa shirt to make it W6 D9 L10, 1 Goal, 1 Assist and 1 Booking so far in his Villa career.
