Villa lost a third game in succession but were forced to play the majority of the game with 10-men after goalkeeper Jimmy Warner retired injured in the first half. Midfielder George Campbell took Warner's place between the posts. Forward Percy Hislop made his final appearance for Villa aged 21 before moving on to Forfar Athletic.
