Villa end the season unbeaten in two but are held to a second successive draw as Billy Smith's first season ends in a 10th placed finish having recorded eighteen wins, seven draws and seventeen defeats in their forty two division one matches.
Billy Smithโs inaugural campaign had seen a poor start, boosted by a largely positive middle season before form dipped again however notably dispersed throughout the campaign was the concession of four goals or more against on eight occasions.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jimmy Gibson made his Villa debut aged 25 after joining from Partick Thistle for a fee of ยฃ7,500 in April 1927.
