ON THIS DAY

Saturday, 7 May 1932

Villa lose successive games to end the season in fifth place as Billy Smithโ€™s side break the one hundred goal barrier for the second consecutive League campaign. Villa had however failed to hit the heights of 1930-31 as once again, in common with previous seasons under Billy Smith, Villa had experienced very low fallow periods that prevented any chance of a title challenge. Meanwhile, winger Tommy Moore made his sole appearance for Villa aged 22 - scoring for good measure - after joining from Stourbridge in February before moving on to Bournemouth in August 1934.
