🟩 6 May 1933, Villa 2-0 Derby, Villa Park
ON THIS DAY
Saturday, 6 May 1933
Villa end the season with successive victories to finish runners up for the second time in three seasons after recording twenty three wins, eight draws and eleven defeats in their forty two division one games.
Villa however had started the season in some of their best ever form and looked practicably invincible until the New Year when inconsistency began to enter.
But for that Villa, who finished four points adrift of the eventual champions, would have been celebrating their seventh title in the most spectacular fashion.
Meanwhile, winger Arthur Cunliffe inside forward Ronald Dix, aged 24 and 20, made their Villa debuts after both moved from Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.
