Les Smith scores his second official goal of the season as Villa participate in their second official fixture of the 1945-46 season in the third round of the FA Cup which for this campaign will be played as mandatory double headers, home and away, with the aggregate score over both legs deciding which team will progress. 

Villa face Division Two side Coventry and win the second leg after being narrowly beaten at Highfield Road to progress to the fourth round.
