Eric Houghton's Villa suffer their heaviest defeat of the season to date as they are hammered at Filbert Street to make it nine wins, five draws and fifteen defeats in twenty nine division one games.
Meanwhile, Stan Crowther made his final appearance for Villa aged 23 before moving to Manchester United later this month in the aftermath of the Munich Air Disaster. Crowther played for Villa in 1956-57 and 1957-58 making 62 appearances and scoring 4 goals
