Dick Taylor's Villa - without a win under his leadership - make it two draws and five defeats in seven League games this season. As a result, Villa now have just four wins in the last thirty three matches after a torrid final twelve months under Mercer and a terrible start to life under Taylor. Meanwhile, winger Johnny Martin made his one and only appearance for Villa after joining from school football in July 1962. Johnny moved on to Colchester United in May 1966.
