Villa’s draw with Everton opens the door for Liverpool to take top spot - the first time Villa had not topped the table since October 1898. Villa however were just a point behind with a game in hand and four games to play. Centre forward Walter Leigh made his sole appearance for Villa aged 24 after joining from Calishead Amateurs. Leigh would later move on to Altrincham.
