Robinson had made his debut for Villa in the 1986-87 season and made 3 appearances, scoring once. Defender Dean Glover made his final appearance for Villa aged 23 before moving on to Middlesbrough for a fee of £50,000 in June 1987. Glover had played for Villa between 1983-84 and 1986-87 making 38 appearances and scoring twice.
