Villa face Everton for the first time in competitive football, Everton become the 23rd team that the Villa first team has played in League or Cup football.
Villa record their second successive league win and remain unbeaten in three in the inaugural Football League campaign. With Jimmy Warner absent through injury, Walter Ashmore makes his sole appearance for Villa aged 21 after signing from West Bromwich Standard. Walter would move on to Aston Unity FC.
