Villa end another difficult season in defeat and are beaten for the third time in five and seventh in twelve to make it thirteen wins, eight draws and thirteen defeats in their thirty four division one games.
As a result Villa finish eighth in the table, a significant improvement on their lowest ever placing of the previous season but still a far from smooth campaign.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jimmy Crabtree made his final appearance for Villa aged 30 after which he moved to Plymouth Argyle.
Jimmy had represented the club 202 times over his 7 seasons at the club, scoring 8 goals. In his time with the Villa Jimmy won 7 major trophies: 4 League Championships in 1895-96, 1896-97, 1898-99 and 1899-00, 1 FA Cup in 1896-97 and 2 Charity Shields.
