George Ramsay's Villa suffer a first defeat in four and fail to score for the first time in ten as they are beaten at the Owlerton.
Villa make it seven wins, three draws and eight defeats in eighteen division one games.
Meanwhile, winger Bobby Templeton made his final appearance for Villa aged 22 before moving to Newcastle United later this month for a fee of £400. Bobby had appeared 70 times, scoring six goals over his five seasons with the club. During his time with the Villa, Bobby won two League titles in 1898-99 & 1899-00.
