Villa slump to a third consecutive defeat as Paul Lambert once again delivers a very unhappy Christmas to leave Villa with just five wins in seventeen Premier League games.

Midfielder Chris Herd makes his 42nd and final appearance for Villa (36 Starts) aged 24 before being released by the club in July 2015. Herd had gradudated from the Villa youth team but his career would be regularly interrupted by long term absences that were never fully explained. Despite showing fine qualities in midfield and expected to be a fixture in the team for the long haul Herd would go on ply his trade in sporadic appearances in the lower leagues before moving into far east football.
