🟥 9 Nov 1904, Villa 1-2 Manchester City, Hyde Road
ON THIS DAY
Wednesday, 9 November 1904
Villa's poor start to the campaign continues as they lose for the fourth time in five matches to make it four wins, a draw and seven defeats in twelve division one games so far this season. In significantly better news, Villa’s legendary centre forward Harry Hampton made his debut aged 19 after moving from Wellington Town in April 1904. Meanwhile, forward George Johnson made his final appearance for Villa aged 33 before retiring from football. Johnson had made 110 appearances and scored 47 goals across his eight seasons with Villa and in so doing won the League title in 1898-99 & 1899-00.
