🟥 17 Dec 1910, Villa 0-2 United, Old Trafford
ON THIS DAY
Saturday, 17 December 1910
Villa's first ever visit to Old Trafford.
Manchester United take a fortunate lead just before half time and double it just after as despite Villa's incessant attacking they can't get any breaks at Old Trafford. Sound familiar?
Reigning champions Villa lose for the first time in ten matches to end a record run of nine successive victories in their title defence and make it eleven wins, two draws and three defeats in their sixteen division one games so far this season.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Arthur Cartlidge made his final appearance for Villa aged 30 before moving on to Stoke having made 55 appearances for the club between 1908-09 and 1910-11 and winning the League title in 1909-10.
