Eric Houghton's Villa end a run of three heavy defeats to draw with their FA Cup conquerers and make it five wins, ten draws and fourteen defeats in twenty nine games this season. Meanwhile, Villa handed debuts to full back Roy Pritchard after moving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in February 1955, winger Les Smith following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month and centre back Jimmy Dugdale after moving from West Bromwich Albion in January 1956.
