Player #387 for Aston Villa, Francis Joseph O’Donnell, known as Frank O’Donnell, played as a centre forward for the club.
Frank played for Villa in 1938-39 making 31 appearances and scoring 14 goals.
Frank was born in Buckhaven, Fife, Scotland on 31 August 1911 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 12 November 1938 aged 27.
Villa had signed Frank from Blackpool for a fee of £10,500 in November 1938 - the second highest fee Villa had ever paid out after the £10,775 splashed out on Jimmy Allen in June 1934.
Frank hit the ground running in his Villa career and ended the season with an excellent scoring rate of 14 goals in 29 league appearances.
Despite that Frank was allowed to leave the club for Nottingham Forest without adding to his appearances or goal tally of the 1938-39 season.
Frank played his final game on Saturday, 6 May 1939. Frank played under manager Jimmy Hogan.
Frank passed away in Macclesfield on 4th September 1952 aged just 41.
