John represented Villa in the 1905-06 and 1906-07 seasons.

John was born in Northwich in 1882 and made his debut for the club as a 24 year old on the 24th February 1906 in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

John went on to make 18 appearances over his two seasons with the club.

Villa had signed John from Clapton Orient that same month.

Johnโ€™s final game for Villa came on 20th October 1906 after which he was sold to Northwich Victoria in August 1907.

John played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

John passed away in Northwich on 19th March 1946 aged 64.

Villa suffer a second loss in three games as their decent early form takes a wobble to make it six wins, a draw and three losses in ten division one games so far this season. Meanwhile, centre back John Boden and midfielder Billy Matthews made their final appearances for Villa aged 24 and 26 before moving on to Northwich Victoria in August 1907 and Notts County in November 1906 respectively. Boden had scored twice in eighteen appearances since his debut in February 1906 whilst Matthews scored 12 goals in 26 games since his debut in March 1904.
