It remains a moot point as to how the final table would have looked if the ‘generous’ refereeing at Old Trafford on 10th April 1993 hadn’t gifted Manchester United a win. Given the immediate results Villa produced thereafter it is not beyond credibility that Villa’s form would have continued through the final 3 games to win the title most observers felt Villa’s play deserved. As it was however, Manchester United won their first title in decades.
